Canadiens fall to the Kings, Maple Leafs lose to the Blue Jackets, Flames snuffed out by Wild, plus updates on the Senators, Canucks, Oilers and Jets.

MONTREAL GAZETTE: The Canadiens were held to only 18 shots as they fell to the Los Angeles Kings 2-1. P.K. Subban scored the Habs only goal. Canadiens goalie Carey Price (lower-body injury) was placed on injured reserve but could return to the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Ducks.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Fortunately for the Habs backup Peter Budaj has played very well filling in for the sidelined Price. He’s not the reason the Canadiens lost to the Kings.

James Reimer got little help from his teammates in loss against the Blue Jackets.

James Reimer got little help from his teammates in loss against the Blue Jackets.

TORONTO SUN: The Maple Leafs losing streak extended to three games with a 2-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Mason Raymond tallied for the Leafs while goalie James Reimer made 31 saves.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Can’t blame James Reimer for that loss. The Leafs best scorers failed to cash in.

CALGARY HERALD: Zach Parise scored the game winner as the Minnesota Wild held off the Calgary Flames 3-2.

OTTAWA CITIZEN: Sabres GM Bryan Murray dismissed rumors he was shopping Jason Spezza, provided no updates on Chris Phillips’ contract talks and still believes struggling blueliner Jared Cowen has a bright future.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I’ll have more on Spezza in the “Rumors” section.

WINNIPEG FREE PRESS: With the Jets playing well under coach Paul Maurice, the players hope management won’t break them up on deadline day.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff could be a buyer or stand pat, but I don’t see him being a seller. Not with his team very close to playoff contention.

EDMONTON JOURNAL: David Staples considers GM Craig MacTavish an improvement over former GM Steve Tambellini.

VANCOUVER SUN: The Canucks recalled Darren Archibald for his third stint with the club this season.
