DENVER POST: The Colorado Avalanche clinched their first playoff berth since 2010 as Semyon Varlamov made 47 saves in a 3-2 win over the San Jose Sharks. It was a costly victory, as Matt Duchene suffered a knee injury in a collision with teammate Jamie McGinn early in the first period. No further word on his status until he undergoes an MRI.

BOSTON HERALD: The Bruins clinched the Atlantic Division title with a 4-2 win over the Washington Capitals. Jarome Iginla scored his 30th goal, marking the 12th time in his career he’s reached that mark.

TAMPA TRIBUNE: Steven Stamkos made amends for accidentally scoring in his own net with the overtime winner as the Tampa Bay Lightning edged the Buffalo Sabres 4-3. Before the game the Sabres honored goaltending great Dominik Hasek, who spent his best seasons with the Sabres during the 1990s.

COLUMBUS DISPATCH: Ryan Johansen scored in overtime to lift the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

TWINCITIES.COM: Zach Parise scored twice as the Minnesota Wild opened some space between themselves and the Phoenix Coyotes in the standings with a 3-1 victory over the Coyotes.

DALLAS MORNING NEWS: Colton Sceviour scored twice as the Dallas Stars kept their playoff hopes alive with a 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues.

NEWSDAY: Frans Nielsen and Brock Nelson scored in a shootout as the NY Islanders downed the New Jersey Devils 2-1, marking the 14th straight shootout loss this season for the Devils. Islanders owner Charles Wang denied a report claiming he was entertaining offers to purchase his majority stake in the club.

NEW YORK POST: Martin St. Louis has yet to score a goal with the NY Rangers since the club acquired him from the Lightning on deadline day.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Bruins are poised to finish this season atop the Eastern Conference standings. The Blue Jackets opened a two-point lead over Toronto and Washington for one of the wild card berths in the Eastern Conference. Minnesota now sits three points ahead of Phoenix and four up on Dallas in the Western Conference standings. The Stars moved within one point of Phoenix for the final wild card berth in the West.
