Canadiens edge the Rangers, Senators down the Leafs, Oilers win in Ryan Smyth’s farewell game, plus the latest on the Jets and Flames. 

MONTREAL GAZETTE: Brian Gionta scored the only goal on a penalty shot in overtime to give the Canadiens a 1-0 victory over the New York Rangers. Carey Price made 41 saves for his sixth shutout of the season.

EDMONTON JOURNAL /VANCOUVER PROVINCE: Taylor Hall collected three assists as the Edmonton Oilers downed the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 in Ryan Smyth’s final NHL game. Smyth was feted with a lengthy standing ovation late in the game, embraced by his teammates and the on-ice officials after the game, and congratulated by the Canucks.

OTTAWA CITIZEN/TORONTO SUN: Jason Spezza scored the game’s only goal as the Ottawa Senators edged the Toronto Maple Leafs 1-0.

WINNIPEG SUN: Blake Wheeler was among the few bright spots in this disappointing season for the Jets, setting career-highs in goals (29) and points (69).

CALGARY SUN: The Flames are trying to downplay hype surrounding their recent addition, 2014 Hobey Baker award winner Johnny Gaudreau.
