DALLAS MORNING NEWS: Trevor Daley, the sole remaining player from the last Stars team to reach the playoffs, scored one of three goals as the current version of the Stars clinched a playoff berth with a 3-0 shutout over the St. Louis Blues. It’s the first time the Stars have reached the playoffs since 2008. For the Blues, it’s their fifth consecutive loss.

MERCURYNEWS.COM: Martin Havlat tallied a natural hat trick to lead the San Jose Sharks to a 5-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche. The game also marked the return of Sharks rookie Tomas Hertl, who missed most of this season to a knee injury.

TAMPA TRIBUNE: Eric Brewer scored twice and Kristers Gudlevskis made 36 saves as the injury-depleted Lightning edged the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2. Gudlevskis became the first player to play in the ECHL, AHL, NHL and the Olympics in the same season. The Bolts were without Valtteri Filppula and Sami Salo, plus Victor Hedman and Ondrej Palat left the game with injuries. No word on how serious their injuries are.

USA TODAY: Speaking of the Blue Jackets, forward Nathan Horton will miss the start of the playoffs, sidelined six weeks following surgery to repair an abdominal tear.
