TRIBLIVE.COM: Jussi Jokinen tallied in a shootout as the Pittsburgh Penguins edged the Colorado Avalanche 3-2. The Penguins were playing without Sidney Crosby (upper body) and Chris Kunitz (lower body) for precautionary reasons. Their injuries aren’t considered serious.

MIAMI HERALD: Roberto Luongo made 35 saves as the Florida Panthers scored three unanswered goals to overcome a two-goal deficit and defeat the Dallas Stars 3-2.

The Blue Jackets (87 points), holding the final wild card berth in the Eastern Conference, opened a three-point lead over New Jersey and Toronto. The Flyers (89 points) moved one point ahead of Detroit, who hold the other wild card berth, and within two points of the NY Rangers. Despite the Stars loss, they still cling to the final wild card berth in the Western Conference with 87 points, one point up on the Phoenix Coyotes.
