Will Dave Bolland return with the Maple Leafs?

TORONTO SUN: Lance Hornby reports pending UFA Dave Bolland’s first choice is to re-sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He and the Leafs must overcome the salary cap, his wish to cash in through free agency and the Leafs concern over his recovery from a serious ankle injury last November.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: If he still insists on a long-term deal worth $5 million per season, the Leafs could let him walk.

SPORTSNET.CA: Mark Spector reports Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving intends to continue rebuilding with youth, but his most immediate challenge is re-signing pending UFA winger Mike Cammalleri.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Cammalleri camp haven’t closed the door on returning with the Flames, but I suspect he’ll test the market to see if there’s better options.

VANCOUVER PROVINCE: Tony Gallagher suggests the fate of recent Canucks coaches could give pause for the current candidates for the job.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: With a new president of hockey operations and a new general manager, I don’t think there’s much concern from those contending for the head coaching job.

EDMONTON SUN: The Oilers hired Craig Ramsay as an assistant coach. Former assistant coach Kelly Buchberger has been offered a new job with the Oilers in a player development role, while Steve Smith has been offered the job of fourth assistant coach, working from the press box.

WINNIPEG SUN: Jets stars Dustin Byfuglien and Andrew Ladd netting a giant sturgeon during a recent fishing trip near Chilliwack, BC.

LA PRESSE: Louis Leblanc faces an uncertain future with the Montreal Canadiens.
