The Detroit Red Wings trade center Pavel Datsyuk and their first-round pick (16th overall) in the 2016 NHL draft to the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for center Joe Vitale, the New York Rangers first-round pick (20th overall) and a second-round pick (53rd overall) in 2016.

The Calgary Flames acquire goaltender Brian Elliott from the Calgary Flames in exchange for the 35th overall pick in the 2016 NHL draft and a conditional third in 2018.

Montreal Canadien acquire Andrew Shaw from the Chicago Blackhawks.

Montreal Canadiens trade forward Lars Eller to the Washington Capitals in exchange for the Capitals second-round picks in 2017 and 2018.

The Canadiens also acquired center Andrew Shaw from the Chicago Blackhawks, who receive the Canadiens second-round pick (39th overall) in the 2016 draft and the Minnesota Wild’s second-rounder (45th overall).

STARTRIBUNE.COM’s Michael Russo reports the Minnesota Wild informed left wing Thomas Vanek they’re buying out the final year of his contract.

Tampa Bay Lightning re-signed forward J.T. Brown to a two-year, one-way deal worth $1.9 million. Forward Cedric Paquette also received a two-year deal.

The Dallas Stars announced the re-signing of defenseman Jordie Benn to a three-year contract. Cap Friendly indicates it’s for $3.3 million total.

Colorado Avalanche re-signed forward Andreas Martinsen to a one-year, $640K contract.
