  1. As I indicated in those tables posted in the Rumors thread, they sit 2nd overall in fewest goals allowed per game so far at 2.2, just back of Arizona at 2.1. However, both rank well down the list of teams with the fewest goals scored per game – NYI at 3.1 (tied with NYR) while Arizona sits at 3.0. Projected over 82 games, the Islanders would wind up with 254 gf 180ga while Arizona would be 246 gf 172ga.

The question is, can both maintain that solid D and improve their scoring? At the above projections both would wind up with a differential of +74!! Last season TB was the only team to exceed that (+103), while the solid ones by Calgary (+62) and Boston (+44) were well below that projection. Toronto had a +35, the Islanders came in at +32 along with Pittsburgh.

I think we’ll have a much clearer picture of how the Islanders will fare over 82 games by about mid-December.

The top teams last year in GA were Dallas (202), Nashville (214), Boston (215), TB (222), Carolina (223), St. L (223) and Ariz (223).
