The Dallas Stars have announced the acquisition of goaltender Alex Auld from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for the San Jose Sharks' sixth round pick in the 2010 draft.
SPECTOR'S NOTE: Good pickup by the Stars, proving novice GM Joe Nieuwendyk obviously had a "Plan B" in case he lost out on the Gustavsson sweepstakes. Auld, as the Stars site noted, played 48 games for the Sens last season and while his record was 16-18-1, his save percentage was .911 and his goals-against average 2.48. He'll more than suffice as a backup for Turco, enabling the latter to cut back on his workload.
