Will Rob Niedermayer's plans depend on his brother Scott's? Are the Oilers close to re-signing Denis Grebeshkov? What the latest on Kings defenseman Tom Preissing? Read on to find out!
ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER: Curtis Zupke reports Anaheim Ducks forward Rob Niedermayer had few answers regarding his or his brother Scott's future plans during a recent radio interview. He's hopeful Scott will return with the Ducks but said he doesn't know his brother's intentions. Niedermayer also suggested that Scott's decision won't affect where he signs, saying he hopes to return with the Ducks but it remains to be seen if he fits into their plans.SPECTOR'S NOTE: The Niedermayers have played together for four seasons and won a Stanley Cup with Anaheim. While they'd undoubtedly like to play together that's not going to be a factor in either of their contract talks with the Ducks or any other team.
EDMONTON JOURNAL: reports nothing has been formally annouced but it is expected the Oilers will re-signed defenseman Denis Grebeshkov, likely for three years at just over $3 million per season.
SPECTOR'S NOTE: Both sides were keen to get a deal done so it wouldn't surprise me if this gets announced soon.
LATIMES.COM: Lauren Beale reports Kings defenseman Tom Preissing has put his Manhattan Beach townhouse up for sale seeking $2.15 million.
SPECTOR'S NOTE: Hat tip to GJ Berg. Now let's not jump to conclusions about this. It wouldn't be the first time a player put a home up for sale and folks interpreted it to mean he was going to be traded when in fact they were either moving into a bigger or smaller place. Preissing still has two more seasons remaining on his current contract with the Kings.
