CALGARY SUN/EDMONTON JOURNAL: Josh Jooris tallied in overtime to give the Calgary Flames a 4-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers, who blew a 2-0 lead.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Once again the Oilers lost a game in which they played well enough to win. Credit the Flames for staging yet another comeback victory.

WINNIPEG SUN: The injury-depleted Jets fell 5-2 to the visiting New York Islanders.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Despite their injury woes, the Jets finished December 7-3-3, but missing four defensemen and one of their best wingers to injury could start taking its toll.

THE PROVINCE: Vancouver Canucks winger Jannik Hansen received a $5,000.00 fine from the league for an illegal hit to the head of San Jose Sharks forward Tommy Wingels.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Another infraction like this and Hansen will face an automatic suspension.

OTTAWA SUN: Veteran defenseman Marc Methot could be headed to the Senators AHL affiliate in Binghamton for a conditioning stint. Methot has missed most of this season to a back/hip injury.
