CALGARY SUN/THE PROVINCE: Call-up goaltender Joni Ortio made 36 saves to shut out the struggling Vancouver Canucks 1-0, earning the game’s first star honor. Mikael Backlund scored the game’s only goal.
WINNIPEG SUN: The Jets blew a 3-0 lead over the Los Angeles Kings, but would win 5-4 on a shootout goal by Bryan Little. Evander Kane, Tobias Enstrom and Mark Stuart returned from injury for the Jets.
OTTAWA CITIZEN: The Senators snapped a three-game winless skid with a convincing 5-1 victory over the hapless Arizona Coyotes.
MONTREAL GAZETTE: Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby scored a power-play goal in overtime to lift his club to a 2-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens.
TORONTO STAR: Phil Kessel will represent the Maple Leafs at the NHL All-Star Game in Columbus.
EDMONTON SUN: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will be attending his first NHL All-Star Game as the Oilers representative.
