Jets down the Coyotes, updates on Carey Price, Ryan Miller and Todd Bertuzzi, plus the latest on the Leafs, Flames and Oilers.
WINNIPEG SUN: Bryan Little’s shootout goal lifted the Winnipeg Jets to a 4-3 win over the floundering Arizona Coyotes.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: The win ties the Jets with the Chicago Blackhawks, however, the Jets remain in fifth overall because they’ve played two more games than the Blackhawks.
LA PRESSE: Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price (upper-body injury) claims he’s fine and expects to return to action soon. Habs coach Michel Therrien said the presence of Price in Tuesday’s game against Nashville is uncertain.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Canadiens recently returned call-up Joey MacDonald to their farm team in Hamilton. That suggests Price could be Dustin Tokarski’s backup against the Predators.
THE VANCOUVER SUN: Canucks goalie Ryan Miller, who’s riding a two-game shutout streak, expected to get some advice from his grandmother after visiting her following practice Sunday in Florida, where the Canucks will face the Panthers tonight.
TORONTO SUN: The free-falling Maple Leafs are trying to take a “glass half full” approach to their current situation.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Judging from the recent reaction of Leafs Nation, they’re about the only ones taking that approach.
OTTAWA SUN: Mike Hoffman and Mark Stone are jockeying for the club’s rookie scoring lead. The Senators also learned Todd Bertuzzi, currently playing with their farm team in Binghamton on a PTO contract, suffered a knee injury on Saturday. No word yet on how that’ll effect Bertuzzi’s comeback attempt.
CALGARY SUN: Among this week’s five burning questions for the Flames: What happens now with rookie goalie Joni Ortio after three straight wins?
EDMONTON JOURNAL: Bob Green has officially taken over as the Oilers director of player personnel.
