MONTREAL GAZETTE: Carey Price’s 40 saves and a strong late penalty-kill gave the Montreal Canadiens a 3-2 win over the Dallas Stars. The Habs successfully killed off a late 5-on-3 advantage for the Stars to secure the win.
CALGARY SUN: Johnny Gaudreau scored twice and Josh Jooris tallied his team-leading fourth game-winning goal to give the Calgary Flames a 4-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres.
WINNIPEG FREE PRESS: The rusty Winnipeg Jets fell 5-3 to the injury-ravaged Pittsburgh Penguins, who were playing without Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Penguins defenseman Kris Letang led the way for his club by assisting on all five goals.
THE PROVINCE: Playing without Kevin Bieksa, Derek Dorsett and Brad Richardson, the Vancouver Canucks were blanked 4-0 by the Anaheim Ducks.
EDMONTON JOURNAL: Ex-Oilers goalie Devan Dubnyk beat his former club for the fourth straight time, backstopping the Minnesota Wild to a 2-1 win. Oilers winger Taylor Hall, who was injured during practice on Monday, missed this game and could be sidelined for several more.
TORONTO SUN: The Maple Leafs will be seeking someone on their blueline corps to fill in for the injured Dion Phaneuf.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Cody Franson, the subject of considerable recent trade speculation, is expected to replace Phaneuf for their upcoming game against New Jersey.
OTTAWA SUN: After failing to drum up interest in forward Colin Greening in the trade market, the Senators placed him on waivers Tuesday with the intent of demoting him to their AHL affiliate in Binghamton.
