THE PROVINCE: Henrik Sedin scored twice and Alex Burrows and Radim Vrbata tallied in the shootout to lift the Vancouver Canucks to a 5-4 win over the New York Rangers.
MONTREAL GAZETTE: Dave Bolland’s shootout goal completed the Florida Panthers’ rally from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Montreal Canadiens 3-2. Roberto Luongo made 37 saves in regulation and overtime for the win. Brendan Gallagher scored both of the Canadiens goals. The Habs also learned defenseman Alexei Emelin won’t require shoulder surgery but is sidelined indefinitely.
WINNIPEG SUN: Nicklas Backstrom scored twice and Alexander Ovechkin enjoyed a two-point performance as the Washington Capitals crushed the Winnipeg Jets 5-1.
CALGARY SUN: The Flames are on a record-setting penalty-killing run, going ten straight games without giving up a power-play goal.
NATIONAL POST: The rebuilding Toronto Maple Leafs must build up their prospect depth.
OTTAWA SUN: Senators goalie Robin Lehner and forward Clarke MacArthur have been placed on injured reserve. Both appeared to suffer head injuries when they accidentally collided during a recent game.
