LOS ANGELES TIMES: Marian Gaborik scored the tie-breaking goal in the third period to give the Los Angeles Kings a 2-1 win over the San Jose Sharks at Levi’s Stadium, giving the Kings their seventh straight win. Despite the Sharks’ loss, the game was a resounding success, drawing over 70,000 fans.
MLIVE.COM: Niklas Kronwall’s overtime goal lifted the Detroit Red Wings to a 7-6 victory over the Dallas Stars. The Wings rallied back twice from two goals deficits. Pavel Datsyuk and Jakub Kindl both scored twice. It was a costly win for the Wings, as Henrik Zetterberg left the game after the second period with an undisclosed upper-body injury. He was punched in the head earlier in the period by Stars’ captain Jame Benn.
THE TAMPA TRIBUNE: Ondrej Palat scored twice, Steven Stamkos collected his 32nd goal of the season and Ben Bishop got his 30th win as the Tampa Bay Lightning doubled up the Arizona Coyotes 4-2.
TRIBLIVE.COM: Blake Comeau scored twice as the Pittsburgh Penguins downed the St. Louis Blues by a score of 4-2.
THE WASHINGTON POST: Evgeny Kuznetsov’s shootout goal gave the Washington Capitals a 3-2 win over the New York Islanders. Braden Holtby made 30 saves for the victory, which was the Capitals’ fourth straight.
PHILLY.COM: Shootout goals by Jakub Voracek and Wayne Simmonds helped the Philadelphia Flyers upset the Nashville Predators 3-2. Flyers goalie Rob Zepp made 20 saves through regulation and overtime for the win.
NJ.COM: The New Jersey Devils defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 3-1, but it proved a costly win as goalie Kevin Kinkaid was forced from the game in the second period with an undisclosed injury.
