ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER: Jakob Silfverberg scored twice as the Anaheim Ducks rolled to a 5-2 win over the Nashville Predators. The Ducks were playing without captain Ryan Getzlaf, who tweaked a lower-body injury during warmup and is questionable for tonight’s game against the Washington Capitals.
NEWSDAY: Cal Clutterbuck scored the game-tying goal and then the winner in a shootout to lift the New York Islanders to a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. The Islanders had a scare when top defenseman Johnny Boychuk was helped from the ice in the second period after blocking a shot but he returned in the third.
THE TAMPA TRIBUNE: Tyler Johnson scored twice and Steven Stamkos notched his 28th goal of the season as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Dallas Stars 5-3.
MLIVE.COM: Peter Mrazek turned aside 28 shots for his third career NHL shutout as the Detroit Red Wings downed the Colorado Avalanche 3-0. The Wings have won eight of their last nine games.
MIAMI HERALD: Brandon Pirri scored with just over three minutes remaining in the game to give the Florida Panthers a 3-2 win over the strumbling Los Angeles Kings. Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo kicked out 29 shots for the win.
NEWSOBSERVER.COM: Eric Lindholm’s shootout goals gave the Carolina Hurricanes a 2-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes.

NEWSDAY: Two sources claim New York Islanders winger Kyle Okposo underwent surgery to repair a detached retina two weeks ago. He could return to action within the next four to six weeks.
