The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded center Olli Jokinen to the St. Louis Blues for a conditional draft pick. The Columbus Blue Jackets have traded defenseman Jordan Leopold to the Minnesota Wild for defenseman Justin Falk and a fifth-round pick in 2015
SPECTOR’S NOTE: No surprise the Leafs moved Jokinen, who they acquired just over two weeks ago from the Nashville Predators. He wasn’t expected to be with them long as they hoped to flip him for a decent return. Given the market there wasn’t much to get. Jokinen will likely center the Blues’ fourth line.
The Wild were seeking defensive depth as Jared Spurgeon’s been out with an upper-body injury since Feb. 18. Leopold will bring experienced depth to their defense corps. Falk will likely head to the Blue Jackets’ farm team.
