THE VANCOUVER SUN: Eddie Lack made 29 saves and Zack Kassian tallied the game winner to lift the Vancouver Canucks to a 2-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks.
TORONTO SUN: John Tavares scores in overtime as the New York Islanders overcame 2-0 and 3-1 deficits to edge the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3. The Leafs learned earlier in the day defenseman Roman Polak will undergo season-ending hernia surgery.
EDMONTON SUN: Despite outshooting the Detroit Red Wings 38-26, the Oilers suffered a 5-2 defeat.
OTTAWA CITIZEN: The Senators will start Craig Anderson, rather than the red-hot Andrew Hammond, when they face the Boston Bruins for a critical game on Tuesday. A Senators victory will move them within three points of the Bruins for the final wild-card playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.
WINNIPEG SUN: Winger Drew Stafford has been a good addition with the Jets since joining them from Buffalo in a mid-February trade.
MONTREAL GAZETTE: Canadiens newcomers Devante Smith-Pelly, Jeff Petry, Torrey Mitchell and Brian Flynn are still adjusting to the club’s speed game.
CALGARY SUN: Erasing a four-goal deficit to steal a point against the Ottawa Senators is another sign the Flames are for real this season.
