MONTREAL GAZETTE: Carey Price picked up his league-leading 38th win, Max Pacioretty tallied his 34th goal and Lars Eller had a two-point performance as the Montreal Canadiens downed the New York Islanders 3-1.
WINNIPEG FREE PRESS: Paul Postma and Ondrej Pavelec were unlikely heroes in the Jets 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Postma played 23 minutes and Pavelec shook off a costly goal in his previous game to pick up the win in this one. Drew Stafford and Blake Wheeler were the Jets scorers.
CALGARY HERALD: Alex Tanguay scored one goal and set up another as the Colorado Avalanche held on for a 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Canadiens remain tied with the New York Rangers, who hold first overall in the Eastern Conference on the basis of holding two games in hand over the Habs. The Canucks hold a one-point lead over the Flames for second in the Pacific Division. The Jets moved back into the final wild-card berth in the Western Conference as the LA Kings lost to the Nashville Predators.

OTTAWA SUN: Senators goalie Andrew Hammond is only two games away from tying Frankie Brimsek’s 1938 record of being the only NHL goalie to give up two goals or less in 12 straight games.
