Latest on P.K. Subban, Andrew Hammond, Ryan Miller, Taylor Hall, Sean Monahan and more.
MONTREAL GAZETTE: Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban was fined for the second time by the NHL for diving. If he incurs a third diving infraction this season, coach Michel Therrien will also be fined.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: I’m a big fan of Subban but even I can acknowledge he engages far too often in embellishment to draw a penalty. Hopefully he gets the message from his latest fine.
OTTAWA SUN: Senator goalie Andrew Hammond is three games away from tying Patrick Lalime’s record of 16 games earning at least one point per game.
THE PROVINCE: Ryan Miller and his wife Noureen DeWulf welcomed a baby boy on Friday.
EDMONTON SUN: Oilers winger Taylor Hall (leg injury) could return to action as early as today against the Philadelphia Flyers.
WINNIPEG SUN: Drew Stafford and Tyler Myers have been welcome additions to the Jets since acquired from the Buffalo Sabres in mid-February.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Stafford is a UFA this summer but it wouldn’t surprise me if the Jets re-sign him. After tallying only 24 points in 50 games with the lowly Sabres, Stafford has 11 points in 15 games with the Jets.
CALGARY SUN: Flames sophomore center Sean Monahan recently tallied his 50th career NHL goal. He’s on to exceed 30 goals this season.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Monahan’s performance this season is a significant factor in the Flames’ improvement this season.
NATIONAL POST: An unnamed Toronto Maple Leafs player claims the atmosphere within the dressing room is pretty screwed up.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: No surprise there, as it is reflected by their play on the ice.
So when does someome come out with the obvious and start calling him Swani, or P.K “The Swan” Subban?
I call him, P.K. “Diving Board” Subban. With all his money, he’s able to carry a gold-plated diving board with him, on all road games. I believe he has a permanent one installed on the Habs bench, for the home games. 🙂
