SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS: Antti Niemi made 39 saves in regulation and overtime while Tommy Wingels scored the winning goal as the San Jose Sharks edged the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 in a shootout.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The win moves the Sharks within three points of Calgary for third in the Pacific Division and only one point behind the LA Kings.

THE TENNESSEAN: The Nashville Predators snapped a six-game losing skid with a 2-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes. James Neal tallied the winning goal in overtime.
