LOS ANGELES TIMES: Clayton Stoner’s first goal of the season stood as the game winner as the Anaheim Ducks downed the Dallas Stars 3-1.

MIAMI HERALD: Jaromir Jagr scored his first goal with the Florida Panthers and set up another to help his new team edge the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3. The win moves the Panthers to within two points of the struggling Boston Bruins for the final wild-card berth in the Eastern Conference.

ESPN.COM: Katie Strang reports the New York Rangers have reached an agreement with Mats Zuccarello on a four-year, $18 million contract with a partial no-trade clause.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Just over 24 hours after the Rangers announced contract talks had stalled and they were shopping Zuccarello, the winger’s camp agrees to a new deal on the Rangers terms. They just learned a valuable lesson: don’t play chicken with Blueshirts GM Glen Sather.

SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS: The San Jose Sharks traded forward James Sheppard to the New York Rangers in exchange for a 2016 fourth-round picks.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Sheppard will likely replace Lee Stempniak, who was dealt by the Rangers to the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday.

CHICAGO TRIBUNE: Blackhawks winger Patrick Sharp addressed recent rumors claiming he was a disruptive influence, calling the stories false and claiming they were taking an emotional toll. He said he’s also considering legal action.

NEWSOBSERVER.COM: The Carolina Hurricanes have re-signed checking-line forward Jay McClement to a two-year, $2.4 million contract extension.
