 BOSTON HERALD: The Boston Bruins spoiled the return of New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist on route to a 4-2 victory over the Blueshirts. The Bruins achieved the win despite starting goalie Tuukka Rask taking himself out of the game early in the second period because of dehydration. Milan Lucic scored twice for the Bruins while Rick Nash tallied his 40th of the season in a losing cause for the Rangers.  Blueshirts forward Tanner Glass was fined nearly $3,900.00 for butt-ending Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid in the face with his stick.

THE TENNESSEAN: First-period goals from Mattias Ekholm, Mike Fisher and Filip Forsberg powered the Nashville Predators to a 4-3 win over the Washington Capitals, chasing Capitals goalie Braden Holtby in the first fifteen minutes. The win clinched a playoff berth for the Predators, who were playing without Shea Weber (lower-body injury, day-to-day).

ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER: The Anaheim Ducks clinched a playoff berth with a 3-2 victory over the slumping New York Islanders. Second-period goals from Kyle Palmieri and Andrew Cogliano made the difference, while Frederik Andersen made 29 saves for the win.

TRIBLIVE.COM: Steve Downie scored a goal and fought Shane Doan as the Pittsburgh Penguins edged the Arizona Coyotes 3-2. Downie’s scrap with Doan was a result of the Coyotes’ captain injuring Penguins defenseman Kris Letang, who was forced to leave the game after striking the back of his head on the boards. No word yet as to the severity of Letang’s injury.

THE DETROIT NEWS: Petr Mrazak backstopped the Detroit Red Wings to a 4-0 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Gustav Nyquist and Kyle Quincey collected two points each in the win. The Lightning lost defenseman Jason Garrison to an upper-body injury while center Cedric Paquette appeared to suffer a left-leg injury.

TWINCITIES.COM: Devan Dubnyk made 31 saves and Nino Niederreiter scored twice as the Minnesota Wild leaped into third in the Central Division with a 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings.

THE DENVER POST: Matt Duchene had a goal and two assists while Jarome Iginla had three assists to give the Colorado Avalanche a 5-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS: Brent Burns’ shootout goal lifted the San Jose Sharks to a 4-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH: William Karlsson, Jack Johnson, Boone Jenner and Cam Atkinson scored to give the Columbus Blue Jackets their sixth-straight win with a 4-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues, who lost forward Alex Steen to a lower-body injury.

NEWSOBSERVER.COM: Goals from Justin Faulk and Eric Staal gave the Carolina Hurricanes a 3-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils.
