THE DETROIT NEWS: Happy 87th birthday to Mr. Hockey, Gordie Howe.
Congrats to the Vegas team for meeting their goal. This means I can go to visits friend there and go to hockey games instead of spending every night in the casino.
I still can’t figure out how ten thousand deposits translates into the same number of season ticket holders – if this goes ahead, my money is on a short stay in Vegas, with the Coyotes as the most likely franchise, followed by a move to Seattle when the new arena is built and, hopefully, a very long stay there.
Not that it wouldn’t be great to see NHL hockey in Las Vegas – golf during the day, a game at night, sounds terrific. I just don’t think it’s viable.
At first I hated the idea but…As long as it has a cool name like Las Vegas Mafia or Mobsters and have a cool logo and hats, I’m ok with it, cant be any worse than Arizona or South Florida really as hockey markets go, who knows could develop in to a rivalry with some of the Cali teams. Not sold on the idea that it makes much money but, upon further reflection Im coming around to the idea, it may almost work.
Might end up being cheaper to fly from Toronto to Vegas to catch a hockey game.
Bring back Jofa, Winwells and CCM… the old skool Foligno Domes…now those were helmets!
