Senators ready for their biggest game of the season, Canadian playoff clubs prepare for their final games of the season, and the latest on the Maple Leafs and Oilers.
OTTAWA CITIZEN: The Senators aren’t expected to make any changes to the roster heading into today’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers. With a single point in today’s game, they will qualify for the playoffs.
MONTREAL GAZETTE: With home-ice advantage at stake in the first two rounds of the playoffs at stake, the Canadiens will start Carey Price in goal tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
THE VANCOUVER SUN: Ryan Miller sees his first game action since he was sidelined in February with a knee injury, as he gets the start in the Canucks game against the Edmonton Oilers.
WINNIPEG SUN: Paul Friesen reports Winnipeg Sun readers voted Blake Wheeler the Jets’ MVP for this season.
CALGARY SUN: Flames prospect Sam Bennett might play his first NHL game today against the Jets.
TORONTO STAR: While Maple Leafs coach Peter Horachek doesn’t deserve full blame for the club’s lost season, his inability to right the ship will dog him.
EDMONTON SUN: The Oilers players once again are looking back on another lost season.
What? No mention of Colton Orrs last game as a Leaf?
They thought they would reunite the whole band for 1 last gig tonight will be the swan song for many guys in the organization, lets hope it ends better than Hard Core Logo did.
I wouldn’t be too hard on Horachek. Classy move though to bring up Colton Orr for likely his last game as an NHL er.
Horachek was your classic lame duck coach and although his won lost record was not flattering, his methods and teachings were solid to any player who was willing to listen. He was a good guy stuck in an impossible coaching situation. I hope he lands somewhere else as some players did thrive under his tutelage.
That said, one of the most forgettable seasons in Maple Leaf history is now done. I really hope that whatever drafts picks are truly available to the Maple Leafs, that they get it right and select properly.
