Updates on the Sedins, Brendan Gallagher, Derek Roy, Mark Stone and more.
THE PROVINCE: Unless the Vancouver Canucks hit a home run in the draft, the Sedin Twins will remain the club’s top liners.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: That’s not a bad thing. Despite their age (they turn 35 in September), the Sedins enjoyed bounce-back performances this season. As long as they remain good for 70-points each next season, the Canucks should remain a playoff contender next season.
MONTREAL GAZETTE: Canadiens legend Guy Lafleur believes Brendan Gallagher should be the Habs’ next captain.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Perhaps in a few years, Gallagher will be ready for that honor. Right now, his lack of NHL experience holds him back.
WINNIPEG SUN: Ottawa Senators star and Winnipeg native Mark Stone reflects on his impressive rookie season.
NBC SPORTS: There hasn’t been much contract talk between the Edmonton Oilers and pending UFA center Derek Roy.
WINNIPEG FREE PRESS: Prospects Josh Morrissey and Jan Kostalek still have a long way to go to crack the Jets’ lineup.
