Updates on Milan Lucic, Cam Talbot, Matt Beleskey and more in your NHL evening rumor mill.
Lucic remains in the rumor mill.
CSNNE.COM: Joe Haggerty reports Boston Bruins left wing Milan Lucic resurfaced in the rumor mill this week. Haggerty claims there were faint whispers linking Lucic to New York Rangers defenseman (and Boston native) Keith Yandle, but considering what the Rangers gave up to land Yandle from Arizona, he feels it’s difficult to see this deal happening. Hagggety also cited a rumor from ESPN.com’s John Buccigross speculating Lucic could be dealt to the Vancouver Canucks for a defenseman, noting Alex Edler is a blueliner linked to the Bruins in previous rumors. Haggerty also speculates the Bruins might zero in on Kevin Bieksa or Dan Hamhuis.
NBC SPORTS: Dhiren Mahiban reports the Bruins have not approached Lucic about a trade. He recently submitted an updated list of 15 teams he would accept being dealt to.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Lucic’s status next summer as a UFA will ensure his name remains in this summer’s rumor mill for a while. Whether he actually gets dealt remains to be seen.
Updates on Talbot (plus some other Rangers news).
NEW YORK POST: Larry Brooks reports Edmonton, Buffalo, Dallas and San Jose are believed to have either submitted offers for Rangers backup Cam Talbot. Brooks claims the Rangers seek a combination of picks and perhaps a prospect for Talbot. The Oilers, who have two second-round picks in this year’s draft, have not yet offered the Blueshirts their second round pick. The Rangers aren’t expecting to get a roster player for Talbot, nor have they packaged him with Kevin Klein or Keith Yandle in a larger deal.
Brooks also claims there’s preliminary interest between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Martin St. Louis, who’s eligible for UFA status on July 1. There is no indication the Rangers intend to trade Rick Nash, though Brooks claims his trade value is never going to be higher than it is right now.
TSN’s Aaron Ward reports via Twitter: “Much like NYR and Talbot, VAN has multiple offers on Lack. Hearing BUFF among most interested.”
SPECTOR’S NOTE: The current goalie market hinges upon what the Rangers do with Talbot. Once he’s traded, the other dominoes (Eddie Lack or Jacob Markstrom, Robin Lehner or Craig Anderson) could fall.
Latest Sharks rumors.
SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS: David Pollak reports the Sharks are reportedly among several teams interested in Rangers goalie Cam Talbot. The Sharks hold the ninth overall pick, and Pollak speculates if GM Doug Wilson is determined to land Talbot, it could cost him that pick as part of a bigger deal. The Sharks also have plenty of salary-cap space if they wish to make a big trade.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Beleskey to the Sharks would definitely make their games with the Ducks more interesting next season.
