CBC.CA: The Hockey Hall of Fame’s 2015 inductees will be announced today. Detroit Red Wings great Nicklas Lidstrom is expected to be among them. He could be joined by former Red Wings teammate Sergei Fedorov and former Hart and Norris winner Chris Pronger.
LOS ANGELES TIMES: The Kings have placed center Mike Richards on unconditional waivers for the purpose of buying out the remainder of his contract. The Kings will owe Richards over $14 million spread out over the next 10 years.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Kings GM Dean Lombardi could’ve used a compliance buyout last summer on Richards. He gambled and lost hoping the veteran center could regain his form. The Kings will spend a decade paying for Lombardi’s mistake.
PHILLY.COM: After being acquired by the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday in a trade with Arizona, center Sam Gagner is hoping he’ll remain a Flyer. There’s speculation the Flyers could buy out the remaining year (at a cap hit of $3.3 million) of his contract. The buyout period ends on June 30 at 5 pm ET.
NBC SPORTS: The Nashville Predators have placed forward Rich Clune on unconditional waivers for the purpose of buying him out. Forward Viktor Stalberg cleared waivers, but the Predators could try to trade him before buying him out.
