SPECTOR’S NOTE: The buyout window kicks in
48 hours following the settlement of Schultz’s signing. That’s today. We’ll find out over the next three days if the Oilers intend to use that opportunity to shed another salary. on the third day after the team’s last arbitration is concluded and is open for 48 hours. So, it’ll open tomorrow (July 18) for only two days. We should know by the end of the weekend what their intent is.
As for the Coyotes, Franson is a right-handed defenseman. He was rumored to be seeking $6 million annually on a long-term deal but his price may have dropped substantially over the past couple of weeks. The Coyotes are reportedly willing to invest between $2-$3 million, so he might be out of their price range. They’ll likely have an easier job signing one of those available wingers.
