TORONTO STAR: The Toronto Maple Leafs hired former NHL coach Jacques Lemaire as a special assignment coach.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Lemaire’s hiring was the latest in a series of notable staff additions by the Leafs this offseason. It’ll be interesting to see what effect this revamped coaching and front-office staff will have upon the Leafs roster.
MONTREAL GAZETTE: Canadiens winger Brendan Gallagher is looking forward to playing with new teammates Alexander Semin and Zack Kassian.
OTTAWA CITIZEN: Senators defenseman Marc Methot has put last season’s nagging hip and back injury behind him and is looking forward to the start of training camp.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Having a healthy Methot for a full season will provide a boost to the Senators’ blueline corps.
SPORTSNET: Winger Brandon Prust is seeing the positives in his trade from Montreal to Vancouver this summer.
