Reaction to the Flames re-signing Mark Giordano, plus the latest on the Maple Leafs, Canadiens, Jets and Canucks.
THE CALGARY HERALD/CALGARY SUN: Reaction from Mark Giordano and the Flames organization on the defenseman re-signing a six-year, $40.5 million contract extension.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: You can read my take on the Giordano signing at this link.
TORONTO SUN: Winger Devin Setoguchi will have his work cut out for him securing a roster spot with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Setoguchi will attend the Leafs upcoming training camp on a tryout basis.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: If Setoguchi fails to stick with the Leafs, it’s possible another club could sign him if they feel he had a good performance in training camp and preseason.
MONTREAL GAZETTE: The Canadiens have signed Craig Ramsay as a coaching consultant.
WINNIPEG SUN: While the Jets made significant strides last season, they’ll have to work hard to improve on that performance.
TIMES COLONIST: The Vancouver Canucks signed Victoria’s Adam Cracknell to a one-year, two-way contract. He’s played 82 career NHL games with the St. Louis Blues and Columbus Blue Jackets.
