EDMONTON SUN/THE VANCOUVER SUN: Connor McDavid had a goal and an assist as the Edmonton Oilers romped to an 8-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks in the Young Stars Tournament. Leon Draisaitl and Darnell Nurse also scored for the Oilers. The highlight for the Canucks was Jake Virtanen flattening McDavid early with a big hit.

CALGARY HERALD/WINNIPEG FREE PRESS: The Calgary Flames downed the Winnipeg Jets 3-1 in the Young Stars tournament. Though Flames forward Sam Bennett didn’t tally any points, the increase in his size and strength was noticeable.

OTTAWA CITIZEN/TORONTO SUN: William Nylander scored twice in a losing cause as the Ottawa Senators edged the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-4 on an overtime goal by Tobias Lindberg. Kaspari Kapanen, who was part of the Phil Kessel trade, also collected two points for the Leafs.

MONTREAL GAZETTE: Angelo Miceli has three assists in a losing cause as the Montreal Canadiens rookie squad dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
