SPECTOR’S NOTE: In my opinion, that’s because they didn’t get a bid from Seattle as they hoped they would a year ago. Las Vegas is a go, that’s going to happen, but I believe the league is hoping for a bid from Seattle once the arena issue there is sorted out. Sorry, Quebec City, you’ll have to wait for a relocated franchise.
OTTAWA SUN: Senators center Kyle Turris overcame a painful leg injury to return to the lineup in last night’s loss against the Rangers.
THE PROVINCE: An unrepentant Brandon Prust was fined $5,000.00 for spearing Boston Bruins winger Brad Marchand in the groin during Saturday’s Canucks-Bruins game.
NHL.COM: The Arizona Coyotes claimed forward Viktor Tikhonov off waivers yesterday from the Chicago Blackhawks.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: A recent report out of Russia claimed KHL team SKA St. Peterburg was interested in Tikhonov, who asked for a couple of days to think about it. Having been claimed by the Coyotes, he’ll likely remain in the NHL this season.
USA TODAY: Detroit Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill is Kevin Allen’s early favorite for the Jack Adams Trophy.
