Wasnt that sa fantastically tallented line up somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 million on the roster and 26 mill on the IR….i never really gave much thought to the notion of teams and legitimate tanks but, walks like a duck quacks like a duck….this sudden rash of injuries with Phaneuf movimg 2 weeks before the deadline wouldnt look good to the most liberal of juries.
You almost have to wonder about the integrity of the Leafs after seeing the lineup they put on the ice last night. It looked like the best effort to get the top pick in this year’s draft.
I dont understand how the league can hand the draft to Chicago, the All Star game to LA on the maple leafs Centennial year. Sure they havent won a thing in 40+ years but their fan base is paying this leagues bills just as much as the Canadiens who did hold both these events on Their 100 Years.
The Leafs Are the second winningest team in the league, sure LA is celebrating 50…but last time i checked 50 isnt 100? their fan base at least has gotten a chance to see a cup in the last 10 years.
Sure Toronto got the World Cup…but it doesnt mean anything to the team itself, it feels disconnected from the league as its a “World Cup”. the League should be Embarrassed but instead they will just keep soaking in Money from leafs fans to keep Florida and Carolina relevant.
+1
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Expect escrow to be at the top of the NHLPA’s agenda in the next round of collective bargaining with the league.
SHTICKY NOTE: Expect a long lockout cause this CBA dosent work, for anybody. Rich tea,s vs poor teams, owners vs player, player vs.player.
