SPECTOR’S NOTE: Earlier yesterday, Capitals coach Barry Trotz hinted his club might make a move by the Feb. 29 trade deadline, suggesting not to expect a splash. This may well be what Trotz had in mind, as Weber should bring experienced depth to the Capitals third defense pairing. The Sabres also retained $833K of Weber’s cap hit. Goalie Chad Johnson, defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo and forwards Jamie McGinn and David Legwand could also be on the move by deadline day.
