Notable NHL Headlines.
TSN: Dennis Wideman intends to appear his 20-game suspension for what he called a completely unintentional cross-check to linesman Don Henderson in a game against the Nashville Predators last week.
TSN: Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price appeared to suffer a setback in his recovery from a suspected right leg injury during a morning skate without equipment on Wednesday.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: It’s painfully obvious Price won’t be returning to action soon. The Canadiens should shut him down for the season and allow him to receive whatever treatment is necessary – be it rest, physiotherapy or surgery – to make a full recovery in time for 2016-17.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Over the past couple of seasons, the Wild start well, struggle at midseason and then turn it around down the stretch. GM Chuck Fletcher usually makes moves around this time that help to reverse his club’s fortunes. Don’t be surprised if he’s busy again near the trade deadline.
MIAMI HERALD: Goaltenders Roberto Luongo and Al Montoya are a big role in the Florida Panthers’ improvement this season.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Predictions of Luongo’s demise following his trade to Florida from Vancouver were greatly exaggerated. He’s been among the league’s top netminders this season.
THE TENNESSEAN: Nashville Predators center Mike Ribeiro is closing in on his 1,000th career NHL game.
SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS: After struggling earlier this season, Sharks forward Tomas Hertl has 11 points in his last 11 games.
