Kevin Shattenkirk to the Lightning? Flyers interested in P-A Parenteau? Sharks and Blackhawks battling for Nazem Kadri? Could the Ducks or Red Wings land Loui Eriksson?
Could the St. Louis Blues ship Kevin Shattenkirk to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Jonathan Drouin? Hockeybuzz.com’s Eklund claims it’s either off the table completely or they want everyone to believe it is. Recent media reports claim Lightning GM Steve Yzerman doesn’t want to add to his current contract concerns (Shattenkirk’s a UFA in 2017) so put me in the camp of those who don’t believe this one will happen.
Also from Eklund, here’s some Leafs speculation. First, the Philadelphia Flyers could be interested in Toronto Maple Leafs winger P-A Parenteau. If the Flyers are buyers, Parenteau could be an affordable pickup. The San Jose Sharks are apparently “VERY in” on Leafs center Nazem Kadri, who could also attract interest from the Chicago Blackhawks. Kadri hasn’t popped up in any of recent lists of Leafs trade bait by the Toronto media. He seems to be improving under Leafs coach Mike Babcock. Sure, the Leafs could listen to offers, but I doubt they’re going to move him.
Eklund also claims he’s hearing its a two-team race (Anaheim and Detroit) for Boston Bruins winger Loui Eriksson if unsigned before the deadline. While Eriksson’s name has frequently surfaced in the rumor mill in recent days. I’m not sure the Bruins will part with him if they’re still jockeying for a playoff berth. Time will tell, I suppose.
