SUN-SENTINEL.COM:  Florida Panthers left wing Jonathan Huberdeau will be sidelined three-to-four months to a left-ankle injury. More details are expected to be revealed today. 

SPECTOR’S NOTE: That’s a big loss for the Panthers, as Huberdeau is their top-line left wing. 

STLTODAY.COM: The St. Louis Blues haven’t provided an update on goalie Jake Allen, who left Saturday’s preseason game with an apparent leg injury. The club recalled goalie Jordan Binnington from the AHL’s Chicago Wolves. 

CSNPHILLY.COM: Philadelphia Flyers defensemen Radko Gudas faces a telephone hearing today with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for boarding Boston Bruins forward Austin Czarnik on Saturday. He could face a suspension of at least five games.

TORONTO STAR: The Maple Leafs placed forwards Brooks Laich and Colin Greening on waivers. 

STARTRIBUNE.COM/TWINCITIES.COM: The Minnesota Wild released Ryan Carter from his professional tryout contract. He faces possible career-ending shoulder surgery. The Wild also placed forward Zac Dalpe on waivers. 

THE NEWS & OBSERVER: The Carolina Hurricanes claimed forward Martin Frk off waivers from the Detroit Red Wings. 

NEW YORK POST: The NHL is exploring the possibility of staging an outdoor game at West Point.

  1. Gudas is always walking the line. Key is to play on the edge without crossing it. He just may have this time.

    • Unfortunately Gudas is a player that hits to hurt & that shouldn’t be part of hockey. The idea of checking or hitting is to remove the puck from the player, player from the puck or player from the play, not leave the player lying on the ice injured as you hit him way harder than was required to achieve any of the 3 above. Then add in that he’s reckless & crosses the line constantly. Players like this need to be removed from the game.
