MIAMI HERALD: Florida Panthers left wing Jonathan Huberdeau suffered an apparent ankle injury in his club’s 4-2 preseason win over the New Jersey Devils. The skate blade of Devils center Sergei Kalinin appeared to come down on Huberdeau’s left ankle as the latter was avoiding a check. 

SPECTOR’S NOTE: An update on Huberdeau’s condition could be released today. Here’s hoping it’s not a serious injury.

STLTODAY.COM:  St. Louis Blues goaltender Jake Allen left yesterday’s preseason game against the Chicago Blackhawks as a precautionary measure after teammate Carl Gunnarsson fell on top of him. 

SPORTSNET:  The NHL Department of Player Safety will be reviewing a boarding penalty incurred by Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Radko Gudas that knocked Boston Bruins rookie Austin Czarnik out of yesterday’s preseason game. Last week, Gudas received a game misconduct for boarding New York Rangers winger Jimmy Vesey. 

DETROIT FREE PRESS: Red Wings forward Ben Street avoided serious injury after being clipped on the neck by a skate blade in a preseason game Friday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. 

MLIVE.COM: Wings forward Tomas Jurco was placed on injured reserve. He’s out until November due to offseason back surgery. 

THE WASHINGTON POST: The Capitals placed forward Stanislav Galiev on waivers yesterday. 

TSN: The Montreal Canadiens made a minor trade yesterday, shipping forward Tim Bozon to the Florida Panthers for defenseman Jonathan Racine.

  1. Didn’t think the gudas hit was that bad a little late but given his history will probably get a game
