There’s a report from the LA correspondent for the NHL Network that Gardiner has not received an offer of more than two years. What’s with that? Are teams that worried about his play in his own zone? Is his back injury more serious than has been let on?

Gardiner could be a casualty of the UFA market – wouldn’t be the first who simply found himself in the wrong spot at the wrong time what with his back problems (always an alarm bell), his likely demand in the $6 to $7 mil region, probably at least 5 years and so many teams simply up against the cap and with key RFAs to sign.
One thing is certain, if he ever had a NMC/No Trade list of destinations that has gone by the wayside as he approaches “beggars can’t be choosers.”

I wouldn’t be surprised if he stayed with the leafs. Maybe sign 1 year deal to prove he is fine. I think he likes to be a leaf and would like to stay. Next year maybe he will get the deal he wants. People will say the leafs can’t afford him. But who knows if they will sign Marner.

He’s done in Toronto. I could see him landing in Florida or L.A.
