  1. As usual, the folks who ultimately pay the bills have no seat at the table.

    It is hard to see the severity of any of these issues as worth a work stoppage, from a fan’s point of view.

    Hockey has achieved something of a miracle, with a cap system that allows every franchise to be competitive, and forces distribution of talent, thus giving almost every fan base hope either now or in the immediate future.

    And, as game revenues have risen, players shares have increased.

    Surely they can negotiate within that framework while continuing to play.
