I enjoy reading about the rest of the teams and their players. Calgary should be good again this year.It was disappointing when they lost so quickly in the playoffs.
But hopefully it was a learning experience and they can have better success next spring.

You say ‘veteran Mike Smith struggled in the playoffs’. That’s a very odd take, considering that the playoffs were the one time when Smith definitely was not struggling. He managed a .917 save percentage in those five games, which is respectable. The trouble is that the team gave up over 200 shots against, including two consecutive games over 50.
Frankly, I don’t see any of Talbot, Lucic, or Kylington as difference-makers for the team this season. For the Flames to go anywhere, what they need most is for their top line not to go MIA after the All-Star break, as they did last time. Sean Monahan in particular was putting up replacement-level stats in the last three months of the season. It would be nice to see a better performance from the depth players, but it’s the stars who will make or break the team.
