TSN.CA: reports Ottawa Senators winger Dany Heatley has requested a trade. Heatley is only one year into a six-year, $45 million contract which pays him an average of $7.5 million per season. He would have input into where he gets traded but the site suggests he'll have to be less selective into where he goes in order to facilitate a trade.

SPECTOR'S NOTE: My thanks to everyone who sent this in. I'll have further analysis on this shortly on my blog but suffice to say this is a surprising development. Heatley's salary will limit the number of teams he could get dealt to but expect considerable interest in him.
