NHL Morning Coffee Headlines – August 22, 2025
Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki has high expectations for the coming season, Stars winger Mikko Rantanen could face a fine in his native Finland, the Blackhawks sign Frank Nazar to a lucrative contract extension, and more in today’s NHL Morning Coffee Headlines.
THE MONTREAL GAZETTE: Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki acknowledges his rebuilding club faces higher expectations after reaching the playoffs for the first time in four years last season.

Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki (NHL Images).
“We all want the same goal at the end of the day – we want to be challenging for the Stanley Cup. So I think from now on, that’s pretty much going to be our goal,” said Suzuki.
The Canadiens captain said his teammates had higher expectations heading into last season than management, the media, and fans.
As captain, Suzuki has set an example by living in Montreal year-round. He and his wife have become part of the community and are involved in several local charities. It is also a big reason why a growing number of his teammates are spending more of their offseason time in the city.
FULL PRESS MEDIA: Jim Biringer believes Suzuki has silenced any lingering doubt about his ability as an elite NHL player. He has steadily improved during his career, establishing himself as the Canadiens’ first-line center. Suzuki also put the club on his back last season, playing a major role in their surge down the stretch to clinch a playoff berth.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Canadiens fans have known for years what Suzuki was capable of. His consistent improvement was overshadowed by the club’s struggles during the difficult seasons of their rebuild process. He garnered more recognition around the rest of the league when he reached a career-high 89 points last season.
Suzuki has risen to the challenge as captain of the Canadiens. Whatever the result of their rebuild, he will remain their leader and their best all-around forward.
THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS: Stars winger Mikko Rantanen could face a hefty fine for missing mandatory military service in his native Finland.
While a member of the Colorado Avalanche in 2024, Rantanen was supposed to arrive for military service on Apr. 15. However, the Avalanche’s season hadn’t ended yet. He applied to change the start date for his mandatory service, which was approved two days later, but the Finnish military still considers him guilty of an unauthorized absence.
The penalty is a fine of 10 to 15 days’ salary, which at the time would’ve been 85,000 euros or $ 99,000 in US dollars.
Every Finnish man over the age of 18 is required to serve in the military. Rantanen’s teammate, center Roope Hintz, was exempt from his service due to his professional hockey career and a previous injury that prevented him from serving.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Rantanen has denied any wrongdoing. His case will be heard in a Finnish court soon.
CHICAGO HOCKEY NOW: The Blackhawks signed forward Frank Nazar to a seven-year, $46.1 million contract extension. His new $6.59 million average annual value will begin in 2026-27 following the completion of his entry-level deal.
Nazar, 21, steadily improved after being called up last December. He also had an impressive performance in the 2025 World Championship, tallying six goals and 12 points to help Team USA win the gold medal.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: That’s a significant raise for Nazar, who showed promise during his first full NHL campaign with 12 goals and 26 points in 53 games last season. It’s a bit of a gamble inking him to this lucrative deal before he’s fully developed, but this contract could become a significant bargain if he reaches his full potential.
DNVR AVALANCHE: Logan O’Connor’s recovery from hip surgery has gone well, and the outlook is a positive one. The procedure was not as extensive as expected. He should miss between 10-16 games at the start of this season.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: The 29-year-old Avalanche winger underwent surgery in June and was projected to be sidelined for five to six months.
TSN: The Crown has decided not to appeal the acquittals of five former members of Canada’s 2018 world junior team. Alex Formenton, Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Dillon Dube, and Callan Foote had each been charged with sexual assault in London, Ontario.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: The five were NHL players when the charges were laid. The league issued a statement following the verdict that it still found their actions “unacceptable”. Those five remain ineligible to play in the NHL pending a review of the case by the league.
Nazar’s salary breakdown:
2026-27: $9.1MM
2027-28: $8.66MM
2028-29: $6.6MM
2029-30: $5.46MM
2030-31: $5.46MM
2031-32: $5.46MM + 20-team no-trade clause
2032-33: $5.46MM + 20-team no-trade clause
“It’s a gargantuan commitment to the 21-year-old Nazar considering his lack of NHL experience. The 2022 No. 13 overall pick lands the richest total-value contract in league history for someone with 56 or fewer career appearances, which is Nazar’s tally entering the 2025-26 campaign.”
Holy frontloading Batman!
And, with currently $18,662,024 in cap space, they can’t seem to come to an agreement with RFA LD Wyatt Kaiser who, in 57gp, and coming off an expired ELC of $916.667, had all of 4g 4a 8pts.
Go figure.
Big gamble IMHO
They’ll need that cap hit next year to help keep their head above water in terms of the whatever the cap floor will be then. They will certainly be fascinating to watch then.
This coming season, with a total cap expenditure of $71,104,643, they are barely above the cap floor of $70.6 mil (actually by $504,643), and that’s with the final year of Shea Weber’s $7,857,143 counting. That margin will, of course, rise by whatever amount is settled upon in RFA Wyatt Kaiser’s case.
But next year, with Wevber off the books, they have 5 RFAs with a total expiring cap of $8,393,333, led by C Connor Bedard, coming off his $950,000 ELC. The other 4 are LW Lukas Reichel ($1,200,000), LD Kevin Korchinski ($950,000), LD Nolan Allen ($825,000) and G Spencer Knight ($4,500,000).
Then there are 6 UFAs who they’ll either have to re-sign or replace, totalling $22,487,500 off the cap: LW Nick Foligno ($4,500,000), C/LW Jason Dickinson ($4, 250,000), RW/LW Ilya Mikheyev ($4,037,5000), RW/C Sam Lafferty ($2,000,000), RD Connor Murphy ($4,400,000) and G Laurent Brossoit ($3,300,000).
Yahoo! I am back in to read Rumours. Go Daddy blocked me for a 3rd time. I guess I got parole for good behaviour. Somebody I am not sure who really hates me. I am a gnat at best.
No one “hates” you, Alan. It’s likely because your IP address has tripped GD’s antimalware security.
I had to use a VPN for more than a week to access this site when GD ousted me.
I’d be a little concerned but my captain saying his teammates had higher expectations than management.
Why? Management was publicly trying to keep expectations reasonable last year. It’s a good thing that the players set higher expectations for themselves.
I don’t know. If my lead employee came out and said that I didn’t have high enough expectations for my team I’d be hard pressed not to take that as a shot at me. I’m not suggesting there is some big kerfluffle over the statement but it does raise an eyebrow.
No concern at all Chrisms. It means the players believe in themselves and each other. That’s the first step toward a winning team.
Another good step towards a winning team is having leadership that sets high expectations. Again. Not trying to read into it too much but it sounds like management was ok if they missed the playoffs. That’s not good.
Chrisms, you are over thinking it.
I think this is a case of under promise and over deliver. For the fan base.
The conversations with the coaches and team would very likely be different. Every team, in the dressing room, tries to win the games.
If your entering a rebuild, then management is future focused as far as roster construction, more pragmatic than the will to win. But everyone in the organization, especially the coaches and players don’t like losing.
I get it from the fan base perspective but it’s n the locker room is hope a different message was sent. But as you said… it’s pretty much a nothing burger. Just seemed like an odd statement
I’m with Chrism. The Habs are dysfunctional from top to bottom.
Suzuki thinks management are content to be less than mediocre.
Nothing from Hughes or Gorton yet? Cowards.
Blow it up!
You’re right SOP!
What was I thinking?
Blowing it up is the only real solution to resolve this issue.
You nailed it, Ray. Indeed, Hughes and Gorton have said that they are not going to make a quick move in the now at the expense of building a perennial contender. As perennial as one can in sports.
I expect that most teams’ management in the Habs stage of rebuild think exactly the same way.
Players have a divided perspective. They want to be consistently competitive, but when the puck drops their focus is on winning the game they are in.
With Howard on this
If everybody sets higher expectations (for themselves) than their employers; productivity etc etc rises
Wasn’t there an SNL skit along the lines of “lowered expectations”? LOL
I am positive Sid sets higher expectations for himself
This thread has gotten silly. I seem to recall reading back at the trade deadline that Nick Suzuki told management to not make any deals (presumably because he liked what they had and the deadline). Management clearly assessed the team and as an act of believing in the team did not make any deals at the deadline. Nick demonstrated leadership and management bet on what they had. I don’t think there’s anything else to say, other than it sounds like they have a good group of leaders and managers, and the players enjoy playing there.

Didn’t know that story. That makes this even worse. No matter how much spin Montreal fans put on it.
If Nazar turns into a steady 2nd line center then that will rub more salt into the Kirby Dach trade. Speaking of the Habs, Daily Faceoff ranked every team’s prospect pool and the Canadiens were 2nd for the 2nd year in a row. Unsure when the last time a playoff team had such a high ranking of prospects (I appreciate the list is subjective). The only other playoff teams that ranked in the top ten were the Wild and Capitals…
Also Ray, are you okay with the wife beater Lucic being allowed to play in the NHL?
Nope, habsman I am not.
No appeal? : should definitely not have taken this long for the prosecution to say they won’t be appealing.
There was absolutely zero chance of a conviction after the acquittals.
They were not only found legally not guilty; they ARE NOT guilty.
The judge ruled that “she did not find the evidence of EM to be credible or reliable”
Multiple independent/non subjective (video) evidence contradicted her testimony.
And more/most importantly, she found that EM DID in fact actually provide consent.
After reading all the daily testimony summaries I have now reversed and believe this trial, these charges, this whole mess never ever should have happened.
If the evidence brought forward at this trial was available and used at the law suit (that players only found out about AFTER the settlement); it would be mind boggling to even consider that there would have been a settlement.
As at now, only Gary is holding them back from potential NHL contracts (including PTOs).
As soon as the ban is lifted; Oilers would be foolish if they didn’t try to sign Hart.
I hope you are not a father, especially to a daughter. The fact that these 5 scumbags would participate in this to begin with speaks volumes to their true character. I hope they never get cleared to play in the NHL again.
I hear ya NHBlueshirt94. And yes, I have a daughter, and now a grand daughter.
I’m OK if they come back after some time away. I would suggest similar to Quenneville, but I would understand longer.
They were young (19) and stupid when it happened and the part of the brain that controls impulse doesn’t fully develop unto 21 or 22. Plus they have been treated like special people without consequences most of their life, which I think makes them more prone to lack any type of empathy for someone else. Is that their fault, I dunno. But that’s the only reason they deserve a 2nd chance IMO. I hope they learn.
Having said that, if they got the sh*t knocked out of them for their first season back, that would be OK too.
Seriously, F those guys.
And 8787, you are mischaracterizing what people say again. This time the judge. You should really consider not doing that anymore.
Would not bother me one little bit if they never get a “second chance.” The NHL has done fine without them for the past 6 or 7 seasons. I’m sure it will continue to survive their non-availability.
A message needs to be clearly sent to future generations of young “horny but stupid” kids who think about putting their libido ahead of their careers with the wrong head. In this case not a crime but we’re talking about a “gang bang” and that is totally disgusting – at any level.
As for Formenton, who is still technically Ottawa’s property, good luck with your construction endeavors because you’ve played your last in Ottawa at least.
I doubt you have read Rick Westhead’s (and many others covering the trial) reporting about what EM said on videos during that night, NHBlushirt94. If you had, I don’t see how you could put this all on the players.
The trial judge is reported to have taken several hours to walk through her reasons for judgement. Not one charge was proven.
To be clear, I wouldn’t have been party to the events. But what causes me to keep pushing back on such comments as yours is a glaringly obvious fact: the hockey players were not the only ones in the room.
There was no evidence the woman was coerced into being there. There was much evidence that she was there on her own volition. Enough to result in every charge being dismissed. We’re not in a country where trial by media results in convictions.
So on what basis do you ride your high moral horse? Sadly, for some the court of public opinion prevails in spite of evidence.
As for the NHL’s virtue channeling of the events being unacceptable, who are they to say what constitutes acceptability in players’ legal private activities?
NHBlueshirt94. I have a 21 year old daughter. She doesn’t drink, smoke or do drugs. When she goes out, she knows to be home by 11pm and if not calls to let me know. If we put aside, for a moment, what happened in the hotel room, EM, who was 20 at the time, was drinking heavily , was ok to have a one night stand with a stranger, and it was not out of character for her to spend the whole night out as there was no mention in any reports I read that her parents put out a missing persons report when she did not show up that night. I also have a son who I raised to treat people with kindness and respect. I have already said it in the past but I will repeat it again- the 5 guys are pigs. Where you and I differ, is that I think EM is a pig too. The evidence shows it was all consensual. The NHL is apparently ok with alleged wife beater Lucic suiting up again so I can’t wait for them to rule on the 5 guys.
Father of 6 daughters and one son NHLBlueshirts94
Was with your assertion pre-trial (when we only had one side of the story and didn’t know about the buckets of video evidence).
I mistakenly bought into the original story; the original narrative; probably in part because I have 6 daughters and a wonderful wife.
Then when the dailies came out listing the testimonies and evidence; things started to change for me
By the end of the trial I was 100 % convinced they were not guilty
After the scathing findings/summary/rationale by the judge I was 100% convinced of their being innocent.
The absolute most innocent (and by a huge margin) is Formenton
If I’m 18, not even old enough to legally drink with my teammates ; and I know my teammate has already had consensual sex with her; AND another has received oral AND she literally is lying down and doing things to herself and literally demanding/begging for sex from the guys; and she is more than 2 years older than me; then leads me into the bathroom for sex; I’m not saying no. Not at all.
Tons of video (which of objective and independent and definitive) evidence contradicts a ton of her testimony and statements to police.
She was repeatedly asked under oath about statements (by players) of what she said and did in the room and deliberately never denied she did or said those things. When pressed “did you…” , her “scripted” (read lawyer suggested) response was always “doesn’t sound like something I would say/do”. This was over and over and over again. The lawyers kept pressing… “that’s not what I asked….” “not asking what you think sounds like something you would not say/do,…. “Asking IF you actually” said/did that. She never denied it.
The Judge deemed her testimony “not credible”, “not believable”
AND went further…. Not only ruling that prosecution had NOT proven that consent was not given; but the judge actually stated categorically that consent WAS in fact, actually and definitively given.
Re my wife and 4 daughters (we also have twin infant daughters, so no opinions there) opinions (my wife is 49, twin 17 year olds, twin 16 year olds)… their opinions pre and post trial also dramatically changed.
They are now completely sided with the players (way more than than I), and they collectively are actually disgusted and truly angered with EM. My wife is apoplectic that she got money out of this. Completely apoplectic!
The lawsuit was quickly settled without any knowledge by the players; without any of their testimony; without any of the video evidence.
I fully believe that had the evidence in the criminal trial been presented in the lawsuit that there would have been zero chance of a settlement.
This whole thing snowballed. The consensual acts happened and then she was regretting cheating on her boyfriend. So she told a white lie to her mother; who then blew up; told her (mother’s) boyfriend, who then phoned the police.
That then lead to an investigation that was dismissed as not warranting charges.
The mother’s boyfriend on realizing that these were rich (or soon to be rich) future NHLers; pushed for a lawsuit
Once that happened; EMs early fib/white lie to her mother (and her boyfriend) expanded. She had to lie further and compound the previous lies to cover the previous lies; and so on and so on.
It just exploded.
I in no way believe this tragedy was maliciously planned out by EM , her mom, or mom’s boyfriend
It just snowballed and compounded with more lies. Had she told the truth early on, she’s therefore admitting a lie to her mom and her boyfriend. It just got carried away.
Once the lawsuit settled, she’s obviously afraid to tell the truth (public fear, and fear of being caught providing false testimony and what would happen from that discovery)
A reporter gets a hold of the lawsuit info; and the political pressure escalates and escalates, and percolates… then pressure ends in charges
If the truth had been told at the beginning; no charges; no lawsuits; and at least 4 of those players are in mid careers as NHL players right now; and already $M’s ahead in lifetime earnings.
NOTE: my Son (still 14) has basically stayed silent on this all along. Likely due to early on, both parents and 4 older sisters siding dramatically (and now proven incorrectly) with EM; and now with his mother and older sisters completely disgusted with EM; silence is the best route for him now.
Re your assertion of “5 scumbags”; again, that was my take as well; PRE-TRIAL !!!!
Now:
—-I absolutely believe that 1 of them (Formenton) literally did nothing (absolutely nothing) wrong . Zero, zip, zilch, wrong.
——I believe Hart didn’t do anything wrong warranting any disciplinary action. Asked for something; got it. That’s it. Consensual asked and received.
—-I believe Dube had a drunken error in judgement doing something EM had already done (on video) on dance floor, several times, earlier in the night. When asked to stop. He did. Not “scumbag” worthy IMHO. Being out of NHL this long is a horrific overkill in punishment
—-McLeod had multiple consensual acts with EM (something no one; including EM and prosecution , challenges, no one!). His text out to other for “3-way”; has never under oath/testimony or statement been discerned as to whether this was solely his idea; OR after discussions with EM; OR at the suggestion of EM. If it was her idea; he also did nothing wrong. NOTHING. If it was his idea after consulting with her; again nothing wrong. NOTHING. testimony shows she knew he sent that text; so at worst it was his idea, no discussions ahead of time; but also no challenge by EM (because she could have just left then) ; and therefore a bad judgement call but not scumbag level. Just like Dube, being out of NHL this long is a horrific overkill in punishment
Now… Foote. With you re definitely wrong. He was clothed; and it was neither an assault or sexual assault; but definitely an idiot drunken move. I will use “idiot” and “deplorable” instead of scumbag . Sober, yep, absolutely “scumbag”. Drunk; “idiot” and “deplorable” .
In summary; IMHO, 4 should IMMEDIATELY have ban lifted; and be able to vie for NHL spots right away. No ifs ands or buts. They got hosed through this whole endevor . In addition, I truly believe there should not be (please read this as not being deserved and NOT read as “unlikely to happen”) public push-back on these 4.
Foote…. Only one of 4 that I can actually side with a ban due to his behaviour; BUT (and this is important); he’d already “served time” not playing and earning in the NHL. That “time served” , IMHO, is more than enough fof what he did.
So, my take, lift ban from all, immediately.
Ray,
Where have I mischaracterized what the judge said?
An aside: BEFORE I push “post” on this; I have asked my wife and 4 teenage daughters to read it and offer up any changes/edits/concerns. They all had zero suggested edits/changes; all approve as typed above
I’m with LJ on this.
As far as daughters go, sure we’re protective, but we of our sons too.
Teenagers, alcohol, drugs, fame make for a cocktail of trouble.
We have all done things that we are both proud and also WTF was I thinking moments, and that’s in being not malicious people.
We don’t know the true character of our own kids never mind others’. I think I do, I hope I do but reality is we are not with them and their peers when they are out .
What we do have is a judge who drew conclusions and the crown decided not to appeal.
This is settled and the “court of public opinion” is not a baseline for anything considering how easily the public is led by the nose on-line with virtue signaling run amok.
Virtue signaling goes both ways HF30.
If these “gang bangs” are fine and a 21 yr old women consent to it with 5 guys she didn’t know, and 2 more in the audience, can one of the hundreds of guys who post on this site tell us you have been in one. I ask posters as anyone can make up a handle and say whatever.
I have asked this question before. Crickets. Wonder why? Please don’t blame the “virtue signalers” for not doing it?
I think I know why, because nobody has. Because women would hate it and fear it and you guys actually have empathy for women.
Habsman67, ask your daughter if she would enjoy this and if she would be afraid. She is 21, not a child, she can handle the question. You can make moral judgements about EM all you want, but you do not know her. Why the hell do you think she is that different than your daughter when it comes to being in a flippin’ gang bang? That is a serious question.
Because she slept with someone she met in a bar that night? Same question to the guys on here, how many of you have done that? I sure as hell have, repeatedly in my youth. As did my friends, and it takes 2 to tango. And yes, we were often drunk, it’s how we met women in those days. We drank together. And yes, still happens today. And yes they like sex.
So how the F is that comparable? I did frequently and I wouldn’t participate in what these guys did.
Women do not like what happened to EM, and if they were in that position, they would likely try to get out, or at least say that, or they would scared sh*tless and do what they had to to get out with as little pain as possible. Yes some ladies make judgements of her based on some image they have in their mind of her, without knowing her. I would say the same to them.
I will bet my truck that the ones you ask would not in any way, be cool with it if it happened to them and they were in that position.
The odds of EM being some out of control sex fiend type persona that people have created in their heads without knowing her, are extremely slim. The judgements people are making about her are mind blowing to me.
And after saying all of that I agree with the courts decision, the bar of evidence to convict vs a reasonable doubt is high. It should be. It wasn’t met, it does not mean she was cool with what happened to her. It is why 90% of women do not come forward. Her word vs his or in this case theirs.
We can agree to disagree, but I struggle with this and how folks are willing to brush it aside.
And F those guys.
I’m not disagreeing with what you, LJ and 8787 say habfan30, but I wouldn’t want the sure distraction disrupting team chemistry.
You’re right when you say the “court of public opinion” is not a baseline for anything considering how easily the public is led by the nose” … but simply from the divergent opinions in these pages, there will be similar feelings throughout the hundreds of thousands fans across the league, not to mention likely within team rosters as well.
And yes, it won’t last forever, but it will make it extremely difficult for those players to brush it off and not let it affect them – to the probable detriment of their game.
Is it worth the gamble for any team?
If you Google the question about lingering resentment you get this “AI” consensus opinion, which is probably based upon assessment of the comments and opinions spread across the Web
“Yes, if the acquitted players resume their careers, resentment from fans and teammates is highly likely due to the serious nature of the allegations, the intense public scrutiny, and the potential perception of a lack of accountability, even after a not-guilty verdict. While the legal outcome was not guilty, the incident has sparked widespread debate about toxic masculinity and entitlement in hockey, and many still consider the behavior in question as reprehensible.”
It’s tough enough to establish yourself in the NHL without carrying that onerous burden for any serious amount of time.
That’s why I want to see no part of Formenton being given a chance to make the Senators.
Ray Bark,
You’re projecting your own values and experience to build moral indignation despite the judge’s findings and ruling.
You want people here to talk about their experiences with gang bangs? Seriously?
You want people here to tell you they waited till age 21 to have sex? Or want each of us to say how old we were the first time?
You want people to say how many girls they knew in their teens who slept with guys at the same time or guys who slept with multiple girls at the same time?
The world isn’t vanilla and 99% prudes, there’s a wide mix out there and one can’t or shouldn’t pre-suppose who acts how or why.
If the Judge found them guilty and we jumped on our high horses condemning her and rationalized how and why it was rigged and the boys were railroaded……then you have an absolutely valid complaint and reason to berate us.
George,
The impact on any team signing these guys fully depends on how they play and if the team is winning and better with them than before without them.
As it is, these guys already lost a lot in reputation and dollars. The history of professional sports is riddled with people of questionable character regarding racism, dui, vehicular homicide “womanizing” who continued their careers, revered by some and castigated by others.
Ray, we did have a family talk about this case and how inappropriately everyone acted. Of course, my daughter would be afraid if she is being sexually assaulted but my daughter would never put herself in that situation where she goes to a bar, gets drunk and then decide to sleep with a stranger. And yes, I am making moral judgements about EM just like you are about the 5 accused. The evidence shows she offered sex and they accepted ( all pigs in my mind but to each his/her own) You mention that you had a lot of one night stands often while both of you were drunk. What if one of those women cried rape the day after claiming no consent was given? Ask the same women if they appreciate being taken advantage of while they are drunk. Can’t you wait until the next day when both of you are sober?
How do you explain the video where she says she had a good time and that it was consensual?
How to you explain the this text message that was sent AFTER she left the hotel room with Mcleod : ”
E.M. responded to another prompt from McLeod, Told them I’m not going to pursue it any farther and that it was a mistake. You should be good now so hopefully nothing more comes of it. Sorry again for misunderstanding.”
(from court transcript) – was she still afraid in the comfort of her own home????
Bottom line they were found not guilty as EM was deemed to be an unreliable witness.
I await your response…hopefully it won’t be crickets.
George, HF30 has it right, the impact on the dressing room will be how they play and what kind of teammates they would be.
Are the Ducks’ players going to not listen to Quenneville? Did other GMs refuse to do business with Stan Bowman? Did our well respected poster Ray (and I am being sincere, Ray) stop being an Oilers fan because the Oilers hired him?
Habsman also pointed out that the league is ok with Lucic being aloud a PTO, and sure his wife didn’t want criminal charges.
But did the NHL make any comment about Lucic’s behavoiur being disturbing and unacceptable? Nope.
One has to ask: is this hypocrisy or apostasy?
I’ll respond Habsman, I’m not one to back down from a debate.
I noticed nobody responded to my specific questions. To personal I suppose. I guess you can ask yourself and ponder it, which was my intent. I haven’t and fine saying it.
Habman, I won’t apologize for my behavior with women, I was always respectful, and honest. Both parties wanted to have sex, and we did. In fact it was great and would do it all over again. Never hard feelings.
No HF30, most of the population are not pure, and no I wasn’t 21 before I did. I was 14 or 15, not exactly sure other than I wasn’t old enough to drive.
What I did was common in my time, it isn’t now, and I understand that. This situation was not, and is not.
Habsman, she made the video while she was still surrounded by these a-holes. EM went to the police, with her father, the very next morning. And she very likely just wanted it to go away, like 90% of other victims of sexual assault, because of exactly what happened to her when it did go to trial and go public. Hence the texts. That is the overwhelming common response from women in this situation.
Wonder if the Dad regrets that decision? Bet he does.
How did that go for her in the end? Your opinion of her is clear, and you have never met her. Lots of people have made the same judgement of her. Great to be her right now, she got some money! I bet she feels awesome.
Wanting to have sex with someone she is attracted to is completely normal. Cheating on your boyfriend not so much but it happens a lot. Not totally uncommon. But she did not deserve to be surprised by a bunch of guys in the room when she came out of the bathroom.
Having one night stands while drinking happens everyday, everywhere, and has for generations. It’s a false equivalency.
What happened in that hotel room absolutely, 100%, does not happen with any regularity. And the reason we know is it hasn’t happened to you or anyone you know. Again, I would bet a lot on that.
And again, I would bet a lot of money that nobody who posts on this site has ever been involved in one either.
THIS. IS. NOT. NORMAL.
Did I miss any questions Habsman? If so, let me know, try answering mine.
As far as the dressing room, we Bruins fans remember the guy the B’s signed. The dipsh*t who bullied the mentally challenged kid for years. How did that go? Bergy and the Boys had a chat with Sweeney, see ya later dipsh*t.
Why would this be different?
Wow. Scrolling down that thread felt like entering my birthday into a banking app.
LJ, responding to your question as I respect your opinion. I understand you could have missed it, as my posts are too long as I get fired up about this topic. Guys who don’t respect, and abuse women deserve what they get, not sure when us men forgot how to deal with these A-holes. That’s our job in a civil society. Things have changed I guess, and it’s disappointing IMO.
I have stated repeatedly, and did above, that they should be allowed back, similar penalty to coach Q. Bowman falls into same category, although his role was smaller than Q.
If I was the Oil I hire somebody else, in particular I simply keep Holland. I thought he did a good job. I would bet Broberg and Holloway are still in Edmonton if he never left.
Video coach dickwad in Chicago likely gets fired immediately too if he was in charge of the Hawks. But that is just a guess, but an educated one.
Bowman didn’t do it, but he didn’t step up when the team president made the call. Shame on him, he should have. He paid the price. These F heads should too.
Ray, I appreciate your engagement. There are two camps here, and with something as explosive as this it’s a wonder there aren’t more. We’re each dug in. I’m so looking forward to having this whole topic behind us all.
I’m calling it a night.
Ray, no I have not participated in any gang bangs and do not have any friends (male or female) who have participated in any either. I also have never murdered any one and don’t know any murderers as well, so I guess by your logic murders don’t happen with any regularity. Not sure why you are emphasizing that the behavior is not normal – I haven’t read any posts here suggesting that this is normal behavior so we can at least agree on that.
You didn’t just say that while you were drunk that you were also honest and respectful to your one night stands – no way, it must have been a typo or your definition of drunk is different than mine.
As far as the video is concerned, yes she was in the room with all these guys and the female Judge who actually saw her and her demeanor ruled that she did indeed consent to these acts. Someone who has a gun pointed at them will say anything but you can tell that they are saying it under duress – she obviously wasn’t.
Also the idea that the subsequent texts she had with McLeod were to just make it go away is laughable. By this time she has gone to the police but still wants to be cordial with her assailant? Why not just ignore the texts and block the number. As part of that text sequence she states that her behavior was also inappropriate that night – but you know better, right? I sure hope she doesn’t feel awesome, she ruined the lives of 5 men and her own because of poor choices all 6 of them made after a night of too much drinking. As far as the dipsh*t is concerned, the difference is that he was actually guilty of what he was accused of. I believe I answered all of your questions.
“There are great hockey fans in this town,” Béliveau said as we headed back to the team’s alumni lounge.
“But do you think,” he added playfully, “that maybe we’ve just spoiled them with all those Stanley Cups?”
Sounds like Suzuki wants to spoil us again 🙂
Well, the horny 5 should be reinstated. It seems EM was even hornier! They are all pigs but should be forgiven if they seek that and not visit that kind of behavior anymore and be pigs no more!
