  1. The Canes still need a goalie no matter what else they do!

    • Jake Allen for Jesperi Kotkaniemi!

      • hahaha…

Got a feeling Allen will end up on the Devils if they miss out on Markstrom

      • Penguins trade Chad Ruhwedel to Rangers for 2027 4th round pick.

      • You called it, Rock.

  2. Ruhwedal to NY! Pengy , I mean 8787 will be so disappointed!

    • Chad will now single-handedly lose each game for the rangers and cost them the cup. All from his position as a number 6 d man. Obviously

      • Lol. My guess is Chad won’t be seeing a single game unless someone gets injured.

I don’t see Fox , Trouba or Schneider getting scratched to get him some ice time.

    • Pengy and 8787 writing styles are so similar. Yet there’s differences as 8787 wasn’t against Ruhwedel and isn’t fan of the Maple Leafs.

      • @ Speed Kills
Another one of your burner account Pengy? How many more do you need lol

      • Yes I don’t think Pengy was a Leafs fan either. What fan would think AM34 wouldn’t sign an extension for a chance to play in front of less than 5000 fans every home game just because he’s from Arizona? Hope he’s happy with Dubas.

  3. Not a fan of the Maroon move .. 35 years old coming off back surgery…

    • He can scrap Joe, and he’s tough. I know you preferred that on D, but hey the play doesn’t die with him either, he has some handles for a big slow dude.

He’ won some cups, maybe he will be good luck!

    • Deal cost zip. If it works out great if not nothing lost

  4. Roslovic to NYR for a conditional 4th. Clears room to move Voronkov to the wing where he can challenge Bedard and Rossi for the rookie lead in goals.

  5. Hertl to Vegas.
    Holy crap Vegas

    • Biggest surprise of the deadline by far!

    • No kidding, Ray, and they timed it to prevent a reply from other contenders.
Deadline Day’s been more fun than I expected. Good on Vegas!

      • Ya, have to respect how they have capitalized on the LTIR. If Stone makes it back for start of playoffs, again, pretty flippin’ lucky.

But again, they got an opportunity and seized it, so have to respect what they do.

And I will root against them all playoff long, but hopefully just in the first round!

  6. Ullmark mix a trade to the LA Kings didn’t want to play there …it’s what happens when you give a player a NTC

    • Not so fast, Joe. Boston Hockey Now’s Jimmy Murphy reports it wasn’t the Kings.

      • Got it from Frank Seravalli

      • My bad jump the gun X this guy off my listen to person ….UPDATE** – At 3:10 p.m. ET, confirmed that the team was not the Kings. Sorry

      • Probably SJ for hertl. Lol

  7. Lightning make two trades so JBB can say to team and fans “look, I did something”. May or may not earn the privilege to be cannon fodder in round one based on recent play tho bringing in a Fwd and D at least give Cooper the option to sit somebody to get thier attention.

    • I think the lightning today, look a lot like Pittsburgh did 5 years ago.

I’m praying they don’t go down that same path and make some tough but necessary moves this off-season.

Imo, they should have considered starting a retool last year.

This deadline wasn’t very deep at all. Outside of Hanifin, nothing Tampa really needed

      • Pitts didn’t have elite goaltending under contract (tho they may have thought so) & no Hegel/Point/Sergechev next gen with Kuch as a tweener. But agree that the general nature of the problem is the same – Stamkos/Hedman contracts must revise seriously downward as play does or be moved; and cupboard is too thin, needs restocking or more ‘Ross Coltons’ have to be found in low rounds or Europe.

      • TB needs to start doing what BOS did, not what PIT did when it comes to older core guys. Short term bonus laden deals vs longer term.

Losing those guys to retirement still hurt the team, but at least to have some cap $ to try and fill gaps.

The player has a say in it too, so if a guy like Samkos say long term or I walk, then it’s decision time.

Vassy needs to find his game, I hope he doesn’t, but probably will.

  8. Ray, I go to all the Lightning Home Games. Vasy is in good form. God couldn’t stop the point blank chances the Bolts are giving up in front of him; last night he stoned 2 clean breaks, a 2 on 0 and a 3 on 1 and still gave up 5. The players on this team have mostly played deep cup run defense in the past but the whole this year has been significantly less than the sum of the parts.

    • Richard,
      Something to consider.
What made Vasilevskiy special, ;ike Price in Montreal, was the aura of invincibility, perfect positioning, no weak goals, consistency.

He lets in some poor goals now, he no longer 100% consistent and consequently less feared than before.

He’s still great, but has peaked and can longer be counted to carry the team on his back like before.

  9. Bruins … so I wonder what was the reason for the Peeke trade … really serves no purpose besides a 2.5 million depth piece

    • Do you trust Carlo and his concussion history and Shattenkirk as the only RHD on the roster after Mcavoy?
