  1. Does anyone here think moving Tavares should be considered …

would any of these names make sense ?

    Philip Forsberg – Preds
    Dylan Larkin Wings
    Ryan Getzlaf – Ducks

    Curious ??

    • I seriously doubt Tavares – who has a full NMC – would consider Detroit at this stage of his career. And I doubt either the Predators or Ducks would be interested in adding an annual cap hit for a guy who would be turning 34 when it expires and who – some have observed in here – is already showing wear and tear signs.

      • Thx George …

Why are the Sens moving Namestnikov??

Seems pretty coveted around the league ..

      • Because he’s coming of a cap hit of $3,250,000 and at this stage he and his agent likely think they can get more than Ottawa is willing to offer. With 13g 12a 25 pts in 54gp I wouldn’t hand him even that amount.

Who knows, if he goes somewhere for a 4th round pick or even a body the Sens can use the rest of the way, he could wind up back in Ottawa later in the spring … but at a lot less than $3,250,000. Otherwise, they’ll use his spot next year for one of the kids coming up the pipe.

As I say elsewhere in these threads to John, I think the days of throwing good money after bad are fading fast. Here’s what we’re offering – take it or leave it.

We already saw a sign of that in San Jose when Wilson wouldn’t go any higher than $1 mil for Labanc even after he posted a 17g 39a 56 pt season. He was crazy to sign it because now, after a big drop off in production, I see talk in here from Sharks fans that his days in San Jose may be over.
