Of all the teams I would like to see bring in Mattias Ekholm, I’d love to see him on the left side of Shea Weber. Maybe a Phil Danault, Victor Mete and a 3rd package for Ekholm.

Wondering what everyone would think about Detroit sending Mantha and a 1st to Buffalo for Eichel?

To be honest, I am not overly impressed with Mantha. He has not broken the 50 pt mark yet in his career to be considered the centerpirce around acquiring Eichel.
Since being in the league Eichel’s “worst” season was 56 pts AND he is a bonafide #1 center.
The chance the 1st being sent along with him is no “shoe in” to be a generation talent.
Would take Larkin to start the conversation along with other pieces to be considered.
IMO humbly.

Totally agree, Ihatecrosby. As I say in another thread, all this talk about trading Eichel is media-driven. In reality, given his cap hit, trying to find a trade partner that a) has the space and b) is prepared to give up what Buffalo would reasonably want in return, is just not going to happen in mid-season – UNLESS there is a GM out there with more hope than brains.
Unless Ottawa wants to relinquish a Chabot or a Tkachuk plus a prospect he isn’t going there. For the Rangers it would cost at least Lafrenière +.
Mantha would be a toss-in with another commodity like Larkin – and even then Buffalo would probably say no.
