  1. At this point, we don’t even know which variant(s) of the virus have postponed games for teams. The more infectious U.K. variant is expected to become the dominant strain in the U.S. in the next few weeks. If that strain hasn’t been the culprit behind the recent stoppages, the problem is likely to get worse unless/until players and staff get vaccinated. I think you’re right about possibly shortening the season further.

  2. It was inevitable … as I kept saying prior to my hiatus. Here you had provincial governments imposing curfews and shutting down all kinds of small businesses and prohibiting gatherings of more than 5 (or 10 in some locales) – yet hockey teams were allowed to gather with upwards of 40 on hand.

While we have yet to see postponed games in the Canadian Division due to the virus and its variants, there have been individuals affected and mark my words, it will get worse.

    • Back from Witness Protection Program George?

  3. After playing Carolina, Detroit had 5 players put on the covid list. No games were postponed. The problem is the inconsistency with the teams and how they handle things.
