Will the mandatory quarantine period really affect that much? Sure Van/CGY are technically competing, but Montreal has a large point lead and a number of games in hand. It seems likely to me that only Toronto, Winnipeg, Montreal, & Edmonton will be buyers in Canada … Vancouver, Calgary, and Ottawa will be sellers, which the quarantine period doesn’t affect.
The US can trade freely, so at most, we remove what? 4-5 teams? It still leaves us with as many as 15 buyers at deadline. Likely the thing that will slow it down more than other years is the new divisional alignment and playoff qualification as it seems to have created less “bubble” teams than we would normally have.
A flattened cap and expansion draft also seems to play a part, probably more than the Canadian teams and the quarantine period. Just seems this is the main focus, but I still think we could see a lot of action.
